キーワードを定義するパターン

Introduction のメインページ にあるように、科学論文 の Introduction は、本文の内容に関連した strong statement から始める。この文章は robust である必要がある。以下のように、いくつか典型的なパターンがある。

キーワードを定義するパターン

典型的には "Keyword is A" という構造をもっており、keyword の部分には論文の主要な対象である病気、遺伝子などが入る。

方法論

方法論の提唱という意味合いが強い論文、方法に関するレビューなどで使われることが多い。

• Functional magnetic resonance (fMRI) is a powerful tool commonly used to phenotype a wide range of neurological and phychiatric disorders. – Ref 1
• The development of recombinant DNA technology in the 1970s marked the beginning of a new era for biology. – Ref 2

病気

最初の例は、Introduction の最初の文章が single sentence paragraph という珍しいケースである。いけない訳ではないが、非常に珍しい。文章の長さ も参照。

• Multiple sclerosis (MS) is characterized by inflammatory demyelination and axonal damage responsible for the development of visible lesions and diffuse damage of what appears to be otherwise normal brain tissue.

「注目を集めている」パターン

"Keyword is A" として A という情報を提供するのではなく、「注目を集めている」「研究のターゲットになっている」ことを強調するパターンである。

• Basal ganglia structures have become an important focus of attention for both basic neuroscience studies and clinical neuroscience investigations related to schizophrenia. – Ref 3.
